Fourth Quarter Reading Homework
Please complete the following activities, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday night. You will complete the activities based on what day of the week it is. Your child has 1 just right book and 1 fluency passage.
Monday
Fiction:
*Take a picture walk with your book. Tell the story/details using the pictures. Discuss what is happening in the story based on the pictures. Make a prediction about what you think this book mostly about. Write one sentence about your prediction.
*Now read your book to someone!
*With a parent read through your fluency passage
Non-Fiction:
*Take a picture walk with your book. Tell the details of the book using the pictures/photographs. Make a prediction about what you think you will learn from this book. Write one sentence about your prediction.

Tuesday
*Reread your book.
Fiction:
*Make sure to discuss the main character and his or her feelings, as well as the setting. Write one sentence describing the character and the setting.
*Practice reading your fluency passage independently
*Reread your book.
Non-Fiction:
*Discuss the main idea and give 3 facts that you learned from this text. Write one sentence telling the main idea and 3 facts you learned.

Wednesday
*Reread your book. You should be able to read it fluently with expression.
Fiction:
*Give a “5 Finger” retell, making sure to discuss all of the major events in sequential order. Write 1-2 sentences telling the events. You may also list the events.

Non-Fiction:
*Retell the key details of your text. Write 1-2 sentences about the key details.

Thursday
*Show off your fluent reading with your book. Make sure to use expression and pay attention to punctuation.

*Talk about the connections to the book, or what it reminds you of. These can be connections to you, another book, or the world around it. Write 1 sentence about your connection.

Optional Challenge Activities- Use your think-tac-toe board for these options. Do them as you wish and hand in as completed if they are a handed in assignment. This will be your option all year. You may also write your responses and hand them in, instead of discussing your responses.
Math Homework
We will continue to send home a daily math homework assignment. This will either be a worksheet or a page from the math expressions homework book. Along with the daily math sheet, there will be a weekly word problem sheet that will be sent home on Mondays, or at the start of a new week. These word problems are to be completed by the end of the week and handed in.
